Wow, I have been pretty busy as of late. Here at Mainland Baptist Church we were involved in the 4th of July parade here in Galloway NJ. It is said to be the biggest in the whole state. We won first prize for our entry, we had a themed float, about 100 or so people, multiple banners, and our American flag bus. We had the chance to hand out thousands of tracts.
The tract this year was made by Aaron McMillian, Steph Crist and I. It featured the story and a picture of Anthony J Sausto . He was a member of Mainland Baptist and attended the Youth Group while I was there. He had a clear testimony of salvation. I was put on the end of finding and Photoshopping the image of AJ. The only one we could find was a low quality shot in a flash player on a news site. So the old Print Screen button emerged to aid me again. To make matters worse the pictured featured some one hugging around his neck, hiding all of the normal Army suit features. Much Photoshopping to get the final result. Aaron worked in Illustrator to get the background and layout set. Steph did the writing, and just like that we a had a tract. We rushed to a printer friend and he got us 5,000 of them. God be praised, we are praying for the hearts of those who read the story and saw the gospel.
Well thats not all. VBS is coming, june is over, Kids clubs on the horizon. So much, but I did find a little time to put together a Poster that featured some of the events of the Youth Group over the month of June.
Working on some photography for the new website. We got this new Nikon Coolpix L18 at the church. It works nice, first Nikon I have ever handled. Not the top cam out there but it does the job very well.
I also got a picture of the front of church and put it through a High Dynamic Range process. This is the finished product. HDR is very popular and usually has a great end effect. You see a mix of highlights and shadows. Go on Flickr and search for HDR. There are some really well done things out there.
Yes, and thanks to Jon Con for the tutorial on developing these HDR projects. There will be more to come soon! Till then, John 3:20 - ” For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.”
Well we started working on the church website this week. In a week or two the new site should be launched. Check the old site here . We are moving to a flash based site. Im not going to release to much else, but there is going to be much photography and logo design going on this weekend. There are 4 interns working at Mainland this year, so many more hands will enable us to do so much more on this end. — The interns Robert B (Third), Aaron Mcmillan, Stephanie Crist, and Jess Ebert– Please pray for us as we seek to honor the Lord in our work. Me, Aaron and Steph will be leaving for college at the end of the summer and Jess will be staying here at the church to work in the school. The Lord is defeinately moving and guiding us in His own way. Keep your eye out for the new Mainland Baptist web site in the next week or two.
Here is a older design “The Bow”. Not super original but it is nice and clean a good desktop picture.
